I’ve recently been listening to a lot of podcasts at work. I don’t know what spurred me on to do this, perhaps I got tired of music. Well, not so much tired of music, but I just have been looking for something different. Podcasts have filled this need very well, and have the added benefit of keeping me greatly entertained, up to date on news and current events, and they help pass the time faster.
The podcasts that I’ve been listening to mainly are technology podcasts. Leo Laporte has quickly become one of my favorite personalities and I’ve been listening to This Week in Tech (TWiT), MacBreak Weekly, This Week in Google (TWiG), and Tech Guy regularly for the last few weeks. Laporte also turned me on to Audible.com, which is a subscription audio books service. I try to read, but I always fail to finish a book in any decent amount of time. This way I can listen to books at home, two and from work, or at work. Not quite the same as reading, I sometimes find myself re-listening to sections when I’m not paying enough attention while I’m working. However, it’s still better than the alternative which is me not reading at all.
Another podcast I’ve really been enjoying is Adam Carolla’s podcast. He always has some guest on, often times a celebrity of some sorts. It’s amazing how many people he knows. If you are a fan of Adam Carolla, as I have been since his Loveline days, then you will love his podcast. Between those and my iPod and last.fm I’m always sure to have something good to listen to while I toil, and waste, away at work.
